THIS CONTEST IS OFFICIALY CLOSED.RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON APRIL 29TH
A Note from Sc1r0n
Hello everybody and welcome to my personal contest! Some of you might already know that this contest started on my personal page some days ago, but since then, I've done some thinking and I moved the contest here so more people can have the ability to join and publicaly display their art. Because this is a personal contest, I am going to be the only one judging the entries, thus giving the right to our group Admin team to take part in this contest. So, let me explain what this contest is all about :
Freestyle Collage Art. There is no certain theme. You decide on the subject and the way you'll do it. It can be from traditional to digital and even craft. Every single way of making a collage is valid. Of course there will be certain rules but they will be there to mak

In this contest members will have to create artthat supports the human right to express ideas and opinions freely but always without deliberately causing harm to other's character and/or reputation by false or misleading statements. To artists, freedom of Expression is most imporant. Excellent examples that represent the power of freedom of Expression through art are : Ai WeiWei,Bansky,Andres Serrano,Andy Warhol,Freddie Mercury, the Monty Python and the list goes on...
The contest will be open for submissions from May 20th 2013 up to July 20th 2013.Every type of art will be accepted,no quality limits applied except unfinished art. There will be only one submission per member so please make it your best
Commission Infos Commissions for dA related things (journal & gallery skins) are closed.
For webdesigns, websites, flyers etc note me.
Before you decide if you want me to hire make sure that you know how I work and that you like the results. Everyone has a personal style and if you don't like mine, it is better to ask someone else.
All my prices are in Euro, that means you should either pay the equal amount in your currency or Euro. In the past people have just changed the currency which usually lowers the price.
Some of you might complain that I am too expensive for them, but even if a journal/gallery skin seems to be something minor or simple it takes some time to get a good result. Especially if you want a bug free and flexible skin that is easy to use. Each skin is unique and no code is used twice - unless you ask me to do something like that.
I'm using Paypal and accept points. For Paypal i won't give away details unless we have made an agreement of price a
WHY to get noticed on dAThere are tons of articles out there that describe what you should do to get noticed on dA. The advice contained pretty much comes down to "if you are active, people will notice you":
fave other people's art - they might fave yours back
comment on other people's art - they might return the favour
use your comments to actually talk to the other artist; don't just say "wow", but tell them why you liked their art; give critiques
use the chats & forums
use your own journal to its full advantage (tell people about yourself / art features / ...)
take care to make your userpage nice-looking and informative
give out llama badges
find some groups to submit your art to
and don't forget to actually post something to your gallery regularly
While all of this is certainly true (seeing as when you don't put your name - with the attached link to your page - out there, no one will have a chance to find you to begin with), the question that remains for me is:
Why do you

2500 points! Let's spread the deviantART love!Hey guys! senses--fail here!
So, I've decided to hold a contest. Semi-late celebration of the new year, I guess? Better late than never, right? Basically, I'll be holding a contest with a very simple goal: to bring our community together and spread the love.
Sound fun? Read on!
Grand prize: 1000
And 5 prizes of 100 each!
So, 9 deserving deviants randomly chosen from the entries will be getting some pretty awesome prize giveaways.
Now, how to win!
There are three ways to enter this contest - if you do all three things, your chances of winning will be tripled.
First off, let's spread some more love here on deviantART! Pick any deviation you want, preferably one with little or no comments. Leave a positive comment on it with one thing you like about it and one suggestion for improvement. Yep, it's that easy! Just comment on this journal with a link back to it.

Racial Activism and MeHey hey hey! Rob here with another "something-to-get-off-of-his-chest"!
Time and again, I'm approached by some of my audience asking "Rob, why don't you ever draw black people?" First off, they may have not even looked into my gallery for those people of color or what have you, because they're there, sure enough.
The long answer is:
Well... what gets me is that when they find out I'm black, they expect that I should hold some sort of allegiance to "my race" or "make a change" as a "popular" black artist who can, figuratively speaking, "put blacks on the map".
There's nothing wrong with that, of course, and there's nothing wrong with people whose main goal is doing that. It's their lives, they're free to believe in whatever they want to.
But to hold me to a certain level where people think I'm obligated to draw my race more often than others because of the "history", I don't agree with. I'm an African-American born in the 80s. I was not born during the times of t
Anniversary ContesttheWrittenRevolution is now two years old! As a tribute to how far we've come and to kick-off our future decades as an active and radical center for young writers, we're hosting our BIGGEST CONTEST YET.
At some point in the future, we plan on becoming an independent, not-for-profit online writing website, a place where members can share their written work in an artistic fashion, as well as give and receive critique to help them improve their abilities. An aspect of that organization that we are rather enamoured with is publishing compilations of our members' best pieces.
Here's where it starts: we've decided to put together an eBook of the thirty best entries to this contest.
Maybe you're not that impressed, you're thinking, "It's just an eBook, no big deal." We get that. But this is just the beginning. We have to start somewhere, right?
We have prepared five themes and ten vignettes for you to choose from. You may use any of these to

A Letter To My Younger Self ContestAs the year begins to draw to a close, I'm keen to spark the inspiration and creativity that I sparked last year when the 'Letters To Me' contest was launched for a second time. Therefore I'm delighted to announce that for yet another year Letters-To-Myself is launching again. Please read the following rules and regs carefully.
A Letter To My Younger Self
The idea is that you write a letter to your younger self - thinking about what you would say, what you wouldn't say. But as always with these contests, we're not just looking at the theme. There are prizes for creativity, inspiration, community choice and humour. I did mine a few years ago, and I have done a revisit since, and it does work. So if you entered before this contest and want to write again - please do. Just make sure your entries are fresh and new.
Start Date: December 1st 2011
End Date: January 14th 2012
Irrational Confidence and how it Helps the ArtistFolks,
I was doing some studying of construction this morning and it got me to thinking on some stuff that might be helpful to you crazy kids that wanna break into comics as artists.
When I was coming up, I had an irrational confidence. I didn't know it was irrational at the time, but I can now see it upon reflection. I just KNEW that I was gonna be able to do this one day.
But when I go back and look at old drawings I did, I think, "What the hell was I thinking?" I mean, I was BAD. I definitely could draw, but I was a complete amateur in every way. A hobbyist. I was a guy that had a better jump shot than his friends and somehow I knew that meant I could play in the NBA.
This confidence could have been a hindrance, though, if it was the wrong type of confidence. My confidence wasn't that I was already good enough to draw professionally. My confidence was in that I would look at art and think, "I can figure out how to do that".
I've seen plenty of guys along the way that had the w
